CANDIDA -1st production at the Burgess Hill Theatre, Church Walk

Synopsis:

The play tells the story of Candida, the wife of a first-rate clergyman named James Mavor Morell. Candida returns home from a trip to London with Eugene Marchbanks, a young poet who wants to rescue her from what he presumes to be a dull family life. Marchbanks is in love with Candida, and believes she deserves something more than just complacency from her husband. Morrel on the other hand thinks that Candida needs his care and protection but the real situation is quite the opposite. Finally, Candida has to choose between the two gentlemen.
