Synopsis: 

 

In order to be near the racecourse, a crazy but very likeable gang of bookies stay at a country hotel, run by a retired colonel, his wife and their daughter. Secret rooms, sliding panels, mistaken identity and little bit of romance are just some of the main ingredients of this fast paced comedy farce.

John Chapman initially trained as an actor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art but after three years on stage, decided to turn his skills towards playwriting. 'Dry Rot' (1954) was his first play and it proved to be a resounding success, running in Londons west end for three and a half years.
